Sgt. Lee Roy James Huffman was born on March 23, 1917, in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces on April 18, 1942, and served as a waist gunner with the 701st Bomb Squadron, 445th Bomb Group (Heavy) during World War II. His aircraft was shot down near Hattenrod, Landkreis Gießen, Hessen, Germany.
Sgt. Huffman is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, Limburg, Netherlands. His grave is located in Plot Block H, Row 3, Grave 8.
