Sergeant Robert Walter Oleson, born February 23, 1925 hailed from Spokane County, Washington and was a member of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, serving as a right waist gunner on a B-24J Liberator bomber. He was assigned to the 703rd Bomb Squadron, 445th Bomb Group, 2nd Bombardment Division, 8th Air Force.
Sgt. Oleson is interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, in Section 82, Site 14B. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.
